The natural beauty is the highlight of this tour to the northeast of the island. Out towards the central mountain range, our first stop will be the amazing views from Pico do Arieiro (the highest point reached by car at 1.818 mt above sea level). From there we drive down to Ribeiro Frio where you can visit a trout hatchery or walk along an easy Levada (1 hour walk – Balcões - fantastic views). We then make our way to the north coast to visit Santana famous for the straw-thatched houses, typical of ancient Madeira just before stopping for lunch at Quinta do Furão (3-course meal included) known for the surrounding vineyards and dramatic views of the north cliffs. After lunch and on our way down, still time for 2 stops. Porto da Cruz with a visit to a sugarcane mill (Engenho) and Machico which was where the navigators first landed when the island was discovered.
