The Akamas Peninsula – Explore the Wild Northwestern Trip of Cyprus (Winter)

Explore the wild beauty of the Akamas Peninsula, one of Cyprus' last unspoilt coastal regions, on a full-day jeep safari from Paphos. This adventure is ideal for nature lovers and those looking to experience the island's rugged landscapes, impressive rock formations and unique natural attractions.

One of the main highlights is Avakas Gorge, a spectacular canyon where towering limestone walls narrow to form a natural passage. Enjoy a 30–40-minute walk through the gorge, surrounded by impressive rock formations. The trail includes uneven terrain and some slippery sections, so comfortable, sturdy footwear is recommended.

Next, visit Lara Beach, one of the Mediterranean's most important nesting sites for endangered sea turtles. Here, you'll learn about the Turtle Conservation Project, which has been protecting these fascinating creatures for decades. Discover more about their habitat and conservation efforts through the exhibits at the beach. The nesting season runs from June to August, with hatchlings emerging until early October.

The journey continues to a scenic viewpoint overlooking the Akamas Peninsula, offering panoramic views of the surrounding landscapes and opportunities to take memorable photos. You'll also visit the Baths of Aphrodite, a natural freshwater spring associated with the legend of the Greek goddess of love and beauty.
