Program Description
Discover the diverse faces of Rhodes on a full-day tour that lets you experience both the lush interior of the island and its picturesque coastline. It’s a perfect opportunity to soak up the local atmosphere, explore lesser-known places and see the island from a different perspective.
Your journey will begin with a visit to Filerimos (in the low season) or the famous Butterfly Valley (in the high season). In Filerimos, you will explore the remains of the ancient city of Ialyssos, including the foundations of the Temple of Zeus and Athena, as well as a monastery and a path leading up to a hill crowned by a monumental cross. Along the way, you will notice engravings depicting the Stations of the Cross, adding a unique character to this place. During the summer season, you will instead visit Butterfly Valley – a unique nature reserve, where lush vegetation, wooden bridges and small waterfalls create a peaceful, almost mystical atmosphere.
You will then continue along the western coast, passing traditional villages and areas that remain largely untouched by mass tourism. A stop will be made near Kamiros, where there will be time to relax with a coffee overlooking the Aegean Sea. It’s the perfect moment to slow down and take in the scenery.
Next, you will visit the Castle of Kritinia, considered one of the most picturesque fortresses on the island. Perched on a hill, it offers spectacular views of the sea and the nearby island of Chalki. This spot impresses not only with its history, but also with its stunning setting.
Later in the day, you will head to Embonas, known as the wine capital of Rhodes. Here, you will experience the local atmosphere, traditions and regional flavours. It’s a great opportunity to get a glimpse of authentic island life and its folklore.
At the end of the tour, you will stop at the Castle of Monolithos. Although now in ruins, it remains an impressive site thanks to its dramatic location on a rocky hill. From here, you can enjoy wide views over the sea and nearby islets. Within the castle grounds, there is also a small chapel dedicated to Saint Pantaleon, adding to the charm of this place.
The order of visits and the programme may be subject to change.

Reviews
The trip was a success, although not everyone will enjoy it. I recommend checking each stop on Google to make sure it`s exactly what you want to see. The west coast, less touristy, better captures the atmosphere of typical Greek life. The castle ruins aren`t as impressive as the Knights of St. John`s Fortress in Rhodes, the sea views differ from the panoramic views from the Acropolis in Lindos, and the Butterfly Valley, teeming with fluttering moths, is a showcase for the place, but only in the upper part of the gorge, which we didn`t reach due to lack of time. Even if they are moths, they tend to be active in the evening, flying about magnificently, not during the afternoon. Of course, you`ll find many of them perched on tree trunks, but only then do they not reveal the colorful undersides of their wings. As for dinner, depending on the menu available that day, you can choose a delicious meal at the taverna. We enjoyed it and left feeling full. Generally, a large part of the trip is spent traveling by coach, but it is made more enjoyable by the interesting stories told by the guide, full of colorful history and myths about the island.
A wonderful trip. The guide was incredibly knowledgeable. Butterfly Valley was beautiful. Butterflies everywhere. Highly recommended. The food was delicious.
