Program Description
Discover a slower, more authentic side of Rhodes and immerse yourself in local traditions, flavours, and natural products that have shaped island life for generations. This thoughtfully designed experience invites you to step away from the tourist rush and reconnect with a simpler, more mindful way of living.
Your journey begins near the village of Archangelos, where daily life still follows the rhythms of nature. You will visit a family-run olive oil factory, where you’ll learn about the production process of one of Greece’s most valued products. Discover why olive oil has held such an important place in local culture for centuries and enjoy a tasting of regional varieties, crafted with care and tradition.
Next, you will head to the small village of Malona. As you walk through its quiet streets, you will experience the charm of rural life and see how the local community lives day by day. Along the way, you will gather fresh ingredients – just as villagers have done for generations – gaining a deeper understanding of the simplicity and authenticity of the local cuisine.
You will then visit a traditional cheesemaker, where you will uncover the secrets behind local cheese and yoghurt production. See how these everyday staples are made using time-honoured methods and learn about their role in the local diet.
The experience continues with a Natural Rhodian Remedies Workshop, where you will explore how olive oil, herbs, beeswax, and other natural ingredients are transformed into traditional skincare products and home remedies. It’s a fascinating insight into the island’s connection with nature and wellbeing.
To end the day, you will enjoy a relaxing picnic in nature, set in the shade of trees and featuring fresh, local ingredients that you have gathered and prepared together. It’s a simple yet deeply satisfying way to experience the flavours of Rhodes.
This experience offers more than sightseeing – it’s a genuine connection with the traditions, culture, and lifestyle of rural Rhodes, where slowing down allows you to appreciate what truly matters.
