Program Description

Discover the Netherlands you know from postcards - with its iconic windmills, wooden houses, traditional clogs and local cheeses. During this trip from Amsterdam, you’ll leave the bustle of the city behind and visit towns and villages where you can experience a more traditional side of the country.

One of the highlights of the trip will be Zaanse Schans, famous for its historic windmills and distinctive Dutch architecture. As you stroll through the area, you’ll see a landscape long associated with the Netherlands and learn more about local traditions and craftsmanship.

During the tour, you’ll also discover how traditional Dutch clogs are made. At one of the local venues, you’ll learn about the process of making Dutch cheese and taste several varieties during a tasting.

The route also includes Edam, Marken and Volendam. In Volendam, colourful wooden houses and a harbour filled with fishing boats reflect the town’s long-standing connection with the sea. It’s a great opportunity to discover a quieter side of the Netherlands and experience the atmosphere of small towns and villages outside Amsterdam.

This full-day trip gives you the chance to discover some of the most characteristic elements of Dutch culture in a short time - from windmills and cheese to traditional craftsmanship and coastal towns.
