Program Description
Discover the story behind one of Portugal's most famous wines with a visit to Cálem Wine Cellars. During this guided tour, you'll learn how Port wine is produced, explore historic cellars and finish your experience with a tasting of this iconic local speciality.
Your visit begins in the interactive museum, where you'll discover the history of Port wine and the Douro Valley, the region where its journey starts. Through engaging exhibits, you'll follow the process from vineyard to bottle and learn why this unique wine has become one of Portugal's best-known exports.
Next, your guide will take you through the historic Cálem cellars, where Port wine matures in oak barrels. You'll gain insight into the different stages of production and discover how ageing shapes the wine's distinctive character, flavour and aroma.
The experience concludes with a Port wine tasting, giving you the opportunity to sample selected varieties and understand what makes each one unique. It's the perfect way to round off your visit while discovering one of Portugal's most cherished traditions.

- Adult - Premium Visit (18+) - tour with a tasting of three Port wines: White & Dry, LBV and 10 Year Old Tawny.
- Adult - Tawny Experience (18+) - tour with a tasting of three Tawny Port wines: 10, 20 and 30 Year Old Tawny.
- Adult - Special Tasting with Chocolate (18+) - guided tour with a tasting of White & Dry, 10 Year Old Tawny and Colheita Port wines, paired with chocolates.
- Adult - Gourmet Visit (18+) - tasting of LBV, Vintage and 20 Year Old Tawny Port wines, paired with selected cheeses and chocolates.
- Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
- Port wine tasting is available to guests aged 18 and over only.
