Program Description
A visit to Codorníu Winery offers a chance to go behind the scenes of Spanish sparkling wine production. This family-run winery has a history dating back to the 16th century, with a legacy closely linked to Anna de Codorníu, who inspired a special collection of cava. During the guided tour, you'll learn how cava is made and enjoy a tasting of three different varieties.
Your visit begins with a walk around the winery, where you can admire the architecture designed by Josep Puig i Cadafalch. You'll then head down into the cellars, where your guide will explain the region's winemaking traditions and the different stages of cava production. You'll also learn what gives this sparkling wine its distinctive flavours and aromas.
An important part of the experience is the story of Anna de Codorníu, the last member of her family to carry the Codorníu surname. In her honour, a cava made with Chardonnay was created in 1983 and named after her. This heritage is celebrated during a guided tasting of three different varieties of Anna de Codorníu cava. An expert will introduce you to their individual qualities and flavour profiles.
This experience combines Spanish sparkling wine tasting with the history of a family-run winery and Catalonia's winemaking traditions.
